It is with great sadness that we had to let go of one of the greatest mothers anyone could ever ask for, Gertrude P. Brown of Mt. Pleasant. She was surrounded by her loving family as she peacefully entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025. Everyone who met her was touched by her radiant smile and the warmth of her heart. Her faith in God guided her through every season of life and shone brightly for all to see. She made countless sacrifices for her children and those she loved, always trusting in her faith to lead the way. She was a devoted member of her church, where she joyfully served as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher and lovingly directed the children's Christmas programs for many years. Her love for her church and church family was unwavering she found great purpose in sharing the Word of God and helping others grow in their faith. Her kind, giving heart reached far beyond the church walls. At family reunions and picnics, she made sure everyone had a wonderful time, organizing her beloved "Gertie's Games" complete with handmade wooden crafts she created with her husband, plastic canvas projects she sewed by hand, and baskets of homemade goodies. She was also an incredible cook and baker. For many years, she baked and decorated cakes for others, pouring love into every creation. Her famous peach pies, cinnamon rolls, and lasagna will never be forgotten just like the love and laughter she brought to every gathering. She was the heart of her family, a woman whose faith, kindness, and joy touched all who knew her. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort knowing she has found peace in Heaven, reunited with loved ones and wrapped in God's everlasting grace. Her memory will live on through her loving children, Mary Lou Loop (Richard), Wilmer Brown (Pam), Roxanne Prinkey (Marshall Clay), John Brown (Lisa), Wendy Tate, and Michele Kmetz (Brenden); her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca Loop-Potoka, Josh Yanetsky, Misty Loop-Truswell, Lyndsey Brown, Savannah Brumley, and Michael Connors; her precious great-grandchildren, Jesse Whipkey, Katrina Keffer, Hayli Breusch, and Lucky Yanetsky; and her sweet grand-puppies; her baby girl, Gemma, Dobby, Draco, Chevy, and Ford; and a brother, Richard Ahlborn (Susan). In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wilmer E. Brown; son-in-law, John "Moe" Tate; and brothers and sisters, Mary Catherine Andrews (Ralph), William Ahlborn (Lucille), Ira Ahlborn (Annabelle), Laura Myers (Bob), Emma Lopes (Louis), June Whetzel (Sam), Ruth Lessman (Charles), and George "Pappy" Ahlborn. Family and friends will be received from noon until 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, in BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mount Pleasant. Additional viewing will take place from 10 until 11 a.m. the hour of services on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, in St. John's Union Church- Assembly of God, with Pastor Phil May officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Union Cemetery. The family would like to give a special and heartfelt thank-you to Heather McGovern, who became a part of the family. She was her dedicated caretaker and showed endless compassion, patience, and love in her care. Heather's kindness brought great comfort and peace to her and her family during her final days, and her devotion will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
