Jean M. (Mulvihill) Conte, 88, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Greensburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, peacefully surrounded by her family in the Oak Grove Center at Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Township. She was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Enright) Mulvihill. Jean graduated from Mt. Alvernia High School and went on to work at PPG until she married the love of her life, Robert, in 1959. They settled in Greensburg, where they raised their six children. While her husband, Dr. Robert R. Conte, built a successful medical practice in Latrobe, Jean quietly and faithfully tended to raising their children and making a home. Jean was active in many charities including years with the Latrobe Hospital Aid Society. She spent countless hours volunteering her time at Caritas Christi. A founding member of St. Gianna Society at her parish, Jean tirelessly advocated for the miracle of new life. As a longtime member at Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensburg, Jean was a lector and was involved in RCIA along with several other church ministries. Jean enjoyed spending time with her many friends where she participated in numerous activities ranging from book clubs to dancing. By far her most treasured times spent were with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Nana took charge at bath times, got on the floor to play and when she took you to the playground, she didn't sit on the park bench; she went down the slides with you. Holidays at Nana's brought much laughter and joy, they were legendary. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Marie; sister, Margaret Dunbar; brother, Jack; and several other extended family members. Jean is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Robert; her six children, Gary Conte (Susan), Lisa Barngrover (Mark), Greg Conte (Debra), Lori McStravick, Donna Biss (Joe) and Diana Rigby (Jim); 17 grandchildren, Tessa (Tyler), Natalia, Nick, Alex, Zac (Hannah), Jackson, Olivia, Adriana, Ava, Luke, Brenna, Lily, Connor, Maggie, Will, Dean and Mitchell; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Grayson. Jean is also survived by her beloved sister, Betty McPoland; brothers-in-law, Frank Conte and James Conte (Katie); sister-in-law, Angela Conte; and countless friends. Relatives and friends are invited to gather from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the Our Lady of Grace Church, 1011 Mt. Pleasant Road, Greensburg. Jean's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in the church. Entombment will follow in Mary, Mother of Mercy Mausoleum at Saint Vincent, Latrobe. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carmel of the Assumption, 5206 Center Drive, Latrobe, PA 15650; or the
Alzheimer's Association 2835 E. Carson St., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
