Kenneth Ferry Obituary

Kenneth E. Ferry, 91, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, in Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born June 14, 1933, in Greensburg, a son of the late Paul K. and Catherine (Zitterbart) Ferry. Prior to retirement, Kenneth had been employed by Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ in Greensburg, where he volunteered, served as an usher, and was on the dart team. He was also a member of the American Legion in Manor. Kenneth was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a proud supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project, Shriners Hospital, or any organization that benefited disabled veterans. In his free time, he spent many hours at Otto Hunting and Fishing Camp in Elk County. He also enjoyed woodworking. Ken's greatest joy was his grandchildren, who he affectionately called 'monkey.' In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Cope; and his daughter-in-law, Georgia Ferry. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rose S. (Schoenfelder) Ferry; four children, Craig Ferry (Ann), David Ferry (Kristen Noel), Janet Herrod (Timothy Alder), and Anne Bodnar (Michael); nine grandchildren, Robert, Jesanna, Corinna, Kennalee, Hunter, Lien, Michaela, Jaycee, and Brylee; and two great-grandchildren, Kenny and Finn. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, in the funeral home, with Pastor Jonathan Hartland officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg, with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post No. 33, Greensburg Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. www.bachafh.com

Although no recent contact, Ken was a good friend from GHS in 1952. May he rest in peace and sympathy to all of his family.

I worked with Ken, at the phone company. He was a good friend and coworker. Always ready to help the younger guys. He left a big hole, in the crew, when he retired.
