Marian E. 'Nanny' (Martin) Mattock, 88, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully at home on Christmas Day surrounded by her family. She was reunited with her beloved husband in the peace of Heaven on his favorite holiday, a wonderful and loving gift for them both to be wrapped in each other's arms. She was born Sept. 30, 1936, in Latrobe, the daughter of the late James and Agnes (Andora) Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. 'Bob' Mattock, a brother, Leroy 'Butch' Martin, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Marian was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Youngstown. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Altar Society, the St. Vincent Auxiliary, and the Latrobe Historical Society. She was a graduate of Latrobe High School and attended business school in Pittsburgh as well. Prior to marriage, she was employed by the Westmoreland Federal Savings and Loan in Latrobe. She then embarked on her true calling as a mother and grandmother. Faith and family were the core of her life. Hosting family dinners with her house filled with laughter and love brought her immense joy. She loved keeping up with her nine grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and had many cherished memories of travelling with her husband. Marian is survived by her brother, Father James Martin, CSC, of Austin, Texas; five children, Bruce Mattock, Esq. (Anne Kearse, Esq.), Timothy Mattock (Cindy), Donna Wannamaker (Gary), Sharon Sarnese (Mark), and Kathy Morgan (David); grandchildren, Edward Mattock (Kimberly), David Mattock (Killa), John Kearse (Elizabeth), Hannah Kearse (Will), Adam Mattock, Rachelle Wannamaker, Natalie Sarnese, Olivia Morgan, and Grace Morgan; Aunt Josephine Smart, Uncle Bob Martin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in the Mattock, Martin, and Andora families. Marian's family would like to extend a special thank you to her kind friend Renee and caregivers Gloria, Marina, and Maureen. They would also like to thank Independence Health Care and Hospice for their compassionate comfort and care. There will be no funeral home visitation. Friends and family are welcome to attend a Funeral Mass Saturday, Dec. 28, at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church in Youngstown with the Rev. James Podlesny OSB as celebrant. Private interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 5206 Center Dr., Latrobe, PA 15650.
