Mark A. Salopek

1958 - 2018

Mark Andrew Salopek, 59, of Glassport, died Thursday, April 26, 2018, at home. He was born May 3, 1958, in Homestead, and was the son of the late Joseph R. and Joanne (Visoskis) Salopek. Mark was an Air Force veteran who graduated at the top of his class at ITT Tech and worked in the electronics field. After traveling the country in his younger years, Mark came back to the area to be closer to his family. He enjoyed playing his guitars and basketball. He is survived by his brother, Paul M. Salopek, of West Mifflin; sister, Juliann M. (George) Tamsula, of Forward Township; nieces and nephews, Joseph, Ashley, Krista, Cameron, Carter, Alexander, Adam, John, Michael, and Jacob; and sisters-in-law, Laura Salopek, of North Huntingdon, and Tina Salopek, of Virginia Beach, Va. He was preceded in death by his brothers, David J. and Joseph E. Salopek.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township. 412-751-5000, Drew J. Gilbert, director. A service will follow at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Private inurnment will be in the Cemetery of the Alleghenies Columbarium, Bridgeville.
