Edward Helbig Obituary

Edward Helbig, 53, of New Kensington, formerly of Brookline, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, in his home.

Born Aug. 18, 1952, in Pittsburgh, he lived there most of his life and had been a resident of New Kensington for the last three years.

Edward owned and operated American Coin in Monroeville until four years ago. Prior to that, he was employed by United States Steel in Homestead for 10 years until 1983. During that time, he owned and operated Tri-State Coin in Brookline.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, collecting coins and NASCAR racing.

Survivors include his mother, Isabel Padilla Helbig of Corsica; his loving companion, Suzanne Chelko, with whom he lived; five brothers, Raymond (Lorraine) Helbig of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Daniel (Deborah) Helbig, Randall (Janet) Helbig, Ronald (Jamie) Helbig and Kenneth (Robert Clinger) Helbig, all of Pittsburgh; and 14 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward Padilla.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 6:30 until the time of service at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., family owned and operated, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. The Rev. Bramwell Kjellgren, pastor of First United Methodist Church, New Kensington, will officiate.
