Gladys M. Richman, age 95, of Wilton, Iowa, formerly of Durant and Walcott, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Wilton Retirement Community. A private family graveside service will be held in the Walcott Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Durant Community School Education Foundation, PO BOX 801, Durant, Iowa 52747.
Gladys was born on July 8, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Myrtle (TeStrake) Royal in Muscatine, Iowa. She graduated from Muscatine High School. Gladys married Larry S. Richman on May 13, 1951, in Muscatine. Larry passed away on September 20, 2023.
Gladys served as the Manager of the Walcott School Cafeteria for many years. Later, she worked at the I-80 Tire Store alongside her husband, Larry. She enjoyed bowling, attending her grandkids’ horse shows, and participating in aqua aerobics classes at the Wilton Pool. A proud homemaker, she took great care in tending her yard and managing the couple’s rental properties. Among her family, she was especially known for her delicious potato salad, a favorite at every gathering.
Gladys and Larry shared a love for traveling, especially their many trips each year to Branson, Missouri—a place filled with laughter, music, and memories they cherished together. Above all, Gladys found her greatest joy in her family. She rarely missed a chance to cheer on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at their sporting events.
Gladys will be dearly missed by her two children, Linda (Gary) Mowl of Muscatine, Iowa and Keith (Kathy) Richman of Durant, Iowa; two grandchildren, Mindy (Dean) Scott and Mitch (Marie) Richman, both of Durant; four great-grandchildren, Cadey, Royce and Leiton Richman and Bailey Scott; one brother, Arthur "Artie" Royal of Durant; one sister, Joann Frederick of West Branch, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; and a brother in-law, Carl Frederick.
