John M. Shoemaker

1952 - 2022

John M. Shoemaker, 70, of Apollo, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2022. Born March 2, 1952, in New Kensington, he was the son of the late Robert E. Shoemaker and Alvera (Sloan) Shoemaker. John was a 1970 graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School and worked for RAD Services Inc. & Babcox & Wilcox before finishing his career as a nuclear technician for Curtis Wright in Cheswick, retiring in 2014. He was a former member of the Apollo Elks. John enjoyed golfing and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking on the Roaring Run Trail, hunting and fishing. John was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan and liked watching classic Western movies and television shows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert R. Shoemaker; sister-in-law, Paulette Shoemaker; and brother-in-law, Mike Spence. John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Tina M. (Womeldorf) Shoemaker; daughter, Mandi L. Cervi, of Apollo; son, John M. (Tessi) Shoemaker, of Murrysville; sisters, Becky Shoemaker, of Murrysville, Anne Spence, of New Kensington; his brother, Dave Shoemaker, of Vandergrift; as well as cousins and friends.
