Michael D. Notte

Michael D. "Mike" "Mickey" Notte, 73, of Apollo, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, in AHN-Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Born July 24, 1948 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Guy F. and Elda M. (Marinucci) Notte. Mike was a graduate of Apollo High School, Class of 1966, and in 1972, obtained his bachelor's degree in musical education from Clarion University. Mike later returned to school, and obtained a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Seton Hill University. Mike worked as a chorus teacher and band director in the New Kensington-Arnold School District. He was later employed as an elementary school teacher, and finished his career as an elementary music teacher, a career that spanned 35 years. Mike was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, where he was the director of the choir from 1972 until earlier this year. He loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Notte. Mike is survived by his brother, David (Gloria) Notte, of North Apollo; nieces, Jennifer (James) Huselton, of Meadville, and Christina (Chris) Clawson, of Murrysville; nephew, David (Ashley) Notte of Wexford; three great-nieces; a great-nephew; aunts, Dorothy Marinucci, of Lower Burrell, and Mana LeVier, of Apollo; and many cousins. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, at CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, PA 15613. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, with Father Vincent J. Zidek, OSB, as celebrant. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike's memory to St. James Roman Catholic Church, 109 Owens View Ave., Apollo, PA 15613.
