Paul Ruschak

1926 - 2018

Paul Ruschak, 92, of Sarver, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018. He was born April 3, 1926, in Charleroi, son of the late Andrew and Paroska (Pearl) Madzy Ruschak. Paul lived in the Mon Valley for most of his life, living the past 28 years in Sarver. He was a 1944 graduate of Charleroi High School. In the early 1940s, Paul worked for Corning Glass, and from 1945 to 1948, he was employed by Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. In 1949, Paul took ownership of Nesti's Service Station, which was previously owned by his father-in-law, Joseph Nesti. Paul eventually started his own insurance agency with the help of his brother, Don, while also obtaining his real estate license in both Pennsylvania and Florida. Paul was an avid apiarist and held memberships in the Westmoreland County Beekeepers' Association, the Armstrong Indiana Bee Association and The Pennsylvania State Bee Keepers' Association. He was also a member of The Carpatho Rusyn Society. His greatest joy was spending precious time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether in the back yard, on the golf course or on the baseball field. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Dolores (Nesti) Ruschak; his brother, Theodore Ruschak and his brother, Donald Ruschak. He is survived by his son, Dr. Paul (Joan) Ruschak, of McMurray; his daughter, JoJean (Ronald) Rukas, of Sarver; his brother, Thomas (Nancy) Ruschak, of Monongahela; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Nick) Rossey, Jamie (Ron) Zampogna, Jeffery (Kristina) Rukas, Joseph (Liz) Rukas, Alyssa (Greg) Guba, Ellyn (Ross) Walker and Aly Ruschak; 11 great-grandchildren, Vinnie and Emma Zampogna, Nadia and Anastasia Rossey, Paul and Julia Rukas, Brooklyn and Leyla Guba, Presley, Ford and Tess Walker; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
At Paul's request, funeral services were private.
