Samuel R. Bigelow

Samuel R. Bigelow, 71, of North Irwin, died Saturday January 11, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born November 19, 1953 in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Samuel E. and Evelyn (Breon) Bigelow. Sam was a retired carpenter and a member of the Carpenter's Union. He was a graduate of Norwin High School Class of 1971 and an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Irwin, where he served on church council for many years. He also was a member of the Westinghouse Golf League and a Meals-On-Wheels volunteer. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Wendy L. (Jasper) Bigelow; his daughters Bree Bigelow and Lee Bigelow Behrens (Derek);his brother Byron E. Bigelow (Dianne); and his mother in law Doris Jasper. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, in the funeral home with Rev. David Ackerman, officiating.
