Vincent DiCarolis Obituary

Vincent DiCarolis, 85, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Vince lived a life of love, laughter and integrity. As a graduate of Arnold High School, he remained a resident of New Kensington with his wife, Mary Ann, where he spent most of his days in the company of his children and grandchildren, and was often found behind the grill flipping burgers or tending to his garden. He was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Pittsburgh, to his loving parents, the late Nicola and Mary DeFazio DiCarolis, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert DiCarolis. He served his country in the Korean War from March of 1952 to March of 1954. In addition to his service, Vince worked at the Arnold Glasshouse (American St. Gobain), as well as the VA Hospital where he retired after 30 years of loyal commitment, in 1993. He was a longtime member of Arnold United Methodist Church, and enjoyed watching sports, gardening, and going to his local gym. Of his many accomplishments, there is no doubt of his greatest joy - his family. Vince adored his time with loved ones, spending treasured traditions such as beach vacations with his family every summer, and excitedly attended his grandchildren's games, recitals, plays and award ceremonies, all with a video camera in hand, ensuring never to miss a moment. He bestowed his light on them all, guiding them through examples of hard work, devotion and dedication to life itself, but most of all to family. Vince is survived but never forgotten by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Evans DiCarolis; his children, Cynthia (husband, Thomas) Gaughan, and Vincent (wife, Alicia) DiCarolis. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Thomas (wife, Tiffany) Gaughan and Kenneth (wife, Jodi) Gaughan; grandchildren, Gregory (wife, Jackie) Gaughan, Ashley Gaughan, Nicholas (wife, Stephanie) DiCarolis, Dante (fiancee, Meghan), Anthony, Marissa and Vincent DiCarolis; and his great-grandson, Casen Gaughan; four stepgreat-granddaughters, Anessa, Sarah, Kayla and Paige Gaughan; and sisters, Carmella Penta and Madeline DiCarolis.
Viewing will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday by his pastor, the Rev. D. Bruce Keen. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arnold United Methodist Church. To leave an online condolence, visit www.rossgwalker.com.
