ANN BOWLBY Obituary

Annie Robbins Bowlby Annie Robbins Bowlby passed in the early hours of January 2, 2016 at Tacoma General Hospital where she had been born fifty five years earlier, on March 24, 1960. She was the daughter of the late Ronald Foster Robbins and Louise Helen McGovern Robbins. Annie grew up in Lakewood and was a lifelong resident of Tacoma. She attended Clover Park High School and then Washington State University. After college, Annie work side-by-side with her father, Ron, as assistant in his thriving orthodontic practice. When her father retired and sold his practice to Robert Witker, she worked with Ron's successor until he, too, retired. Annie married Dennis Bowlby, her husband of 31 years, on Saturday, August 4, 1984 at her father's home on Steilacoom Lake. Known for her energy, ready smile, and sparkling blue eyes, Annie was an avid volunteer in her community and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Tacoma. She loved horseback riding at Woodbrook where, in her youth, she boarded two horses. Always active, she loved time spent in her childhood at her mother's family's vacation home on Fox Island, boating, biking, and skiing with her father at Sun Valley, Idaho. She was devoted to her friends and family and liked nothing more than to entertain and share a glass of crisp white wine with them. Annie is survived by her husband, Dennis, and their faithful Labrador retriever, Atticus, and by her sister Susan Kimble (Roy), brothers John (Yvonne) and Paul (Becky) Robbins, her uncle Nick Nickolas, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. There will be a private family service, 11:00 AM, at Grace Baptist Church, 2207 N. Vassault St, Tacoma, on January 23. Immediately following the service, all family and friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration in her memory at 1:30 PM, Tacoma Lawn and Tennis Club, 502 N. Borough Road, Tacoma. Annie's family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the MultiCare Regional Cancer Center at Tacoma General Hospital and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for their support, care, and kindness and ask that donation's in Annie's memory be made to MultiCare Health Foundation, PO Box 5296 Tacoma, WA 98415.

Dennis,

I am so saddened to hear of Annie's passing. The few times I met Annie, I was impressed by her effervescent personality and how kind she was.

Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that you are able to find comfort in the many memories you were able to create together over the last 30 years.

God Bless,
Anne Olsen

Annie was such a blessing, full of life and love. I, among many others, already miss her so much. Amazing person inside and out, I couldn't have asked for a better aunt.

Snow fell the day after you passed, it was so beautiful just like you. I'd like to believe it was you letting us know you made it to heaven. I am at peace knowing you are no longer in pain.

Love you so much.
