Connor Jones Obituary

Connor Jones
August 3, 1993 - January 11, 2022
Columbus, Ohio - Connor P. Jones loved to be right about everything. The self-described smartest in the family, he graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory, Boise State University and completed his Masters in Higher Education at Florida State University. Connor also described himself as "an avid consumer of pop culture," watching every Marvel movie, no matter how overrated, and quoting Elf every Christmas. He loved to cook and thought he was quite the grill master. We all enjoyed his culinary experiments and were even happier that he was finally learning the value of cleaning up the kitchen as he completed said cooking. He loved random statistics and vocabulary words he could pull out to impress whoever he was with. On any given trip, Connor would find the coolest museum and his love of history was recognized with a "most likely to read historical markers" award. Connor's real passion, however, was building and serving communities. While at Boise State, he served as the Philanthropy Chair for Sigma Chi Fraternity, where he raised money in support of organizations like the Huntsman Cancer Institute. As the coordinator for the Buck-I-SERV program at THE Ohio State University (make sure you never forget the "The" in front of OSU), Connor organized alternative break service trips to locations across the US and internationally, allowing him to visit Uruguay and Guatemala with teams of students to volunteer with local community organizations. He loved making a difference every day in the lives of the students he worked with and helping them grow and develop their own leadership and service skills. Connor once wrote, "To me, 'community' means a place where everyone means something." To say Connor means something to so many people would be an understatement. He will be remembered for his disarming smile and those bright blue eyes, but mostly for his empathetic heart. He was on his way to change the world through service while making everyone feel important along the way. Connor will be greatly missed by his parents, Huey and Peggy; sister Megan (Matt); niece Bridget; family, friends and all who were lucky enough to have crossed his path in his short 28 years. His love, passion, and sarcasm will live on in all of our hearts. We love you always and forever, CPJ. A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 4 at 3pm at St. Charles Borromeo in Tacoma, 7112 S 12th St. We ask that if you'd like to celebrate Connor's life, please do so by making a memorial donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute: https://hope.huntsmancancer.org/diy/in-honor-of-connor-jones or the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America: https://p2p.onecause.com/nationaldiy/memorial/honoring-connor-jones.
