Daniel Snope Obituary

Daniel Joseph Snope 1926-2011 Dan was born to Polish immigrants Jozef and Susan Snopcynski on May 9, 1926. He was born and raised in Buckley, WA with his siblings Lucia and Leon, along with his uncle John. He proudly served his country during his enlistment in the Navy. After his service he met and married Lois Turner. They shared 64 wonderful years together. During their union they raised four sons, Larry, Dan, Ron and Matthew. Over his lifetime he loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spending time at Lake Goodwin, but most of all he cherished time spent with family. Dan was very proud of his Polish descent. One of his greatest highlights in life was traveling to Poland with his son Dan and meeting distant cousins. Dan always spoke modestly of his career and achievements. Over 30 years he was one of the most respected art directors in the region. During his 19 years at Cole & Weber, he served as art director, designer and illustrator, and eventually became vice president. His work with Weyerhaeuser and Boeing won him national recognition. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Lois; sons Dan (Rachel), Ron (Karen), and Matt; grandchildren Rod, Stacey, Joe, Jenn, Pam, Brent, Carson, Troy, Spencer, Alex, and Claudia, along with eleven great-grandchildren. Dan was preceded in death by son Larry, grandson Zachery, and partner-in-crime, uncle John. We will love and miss you always. Here's to you Dad-Nazdrowie. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 21, 2011 in the Mountain View Valley Chapel. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Sharon McGavick Student Center, Building 23 at Clover Park Technical College, 4500 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Dan. We loved him so much. It was always fun to get together and see him and Uncle John together. I am praying for you and I have asked God to please let those two be together, along with Myron Floren, the accordian player.
Love to you all,
Karen Cook

Our family has so many fond memories of Big D....whether it was up at the lake or in the San Juans, with him dancing with Demeri on the deck of the boat...he was such a kind and caring person who loved his family deeply.
He will surely be missed....my sincere condolences to the whole family.

I only knew Dan for a relatively short period of time but im that time I could not have been treated with any more kindness and generosity than what he shared with me. I am truly saddened with his passing and can only hope to understand and appreciate the level of grief the Snope family and friends are experencing.

My deepest condolences on your loss of such a caring, generous, and warm person. He will be missed. God bless you all.
