Ithaca, New York - David Anthony Domkoski, born July 12, 1951 in Amsterdam, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday morning, July 14, 2023. David was the son of Joseph and Genevieve Domkowski, brother of Dennis (twin) and Timothy.
David worked for the Tacoma Public Library as the Community Relations Officer for 30 years, creating and developing the library's many programs, author talks, and gallery exhibitions. He often remarked that he had the best job in the world, as he was able to connect a community he loved to his greatest passions; literature, art and theater.
David was a force of nature, throwing his whole heart into projects that sparked creative inspiration. He taught acting at Tacoma School of the Arts and directed countless plays in the area from 1973 to 2017. He always sought ways to connect people and help them experience laughter, kindness, anger, horror, awe, sadness, empathy, and love.
David is survived by his best friend and wife of 43 years, Kathy, son Chris and his family, Maura Cody, Muirenn, Claire and Eamon Taylor.

I was a member of The Peanut Butter Players, which performed fairy tales for kids in around Amsterdam NY during the summer of 1971. David was the organizer and leader of our happy band of storytellers and was a couple years ahead of me when I went to SUNY Geneseo later that fall. So sorry for your loss.

David was my excellent director when we performed The Crucible. He also asked me to introduce Ray Bradbury when he was on a library tour. It was one of the highlights of my life. David is missed by many. I send my condolences to his wife and son,.

I am so sad learning of David´s passing this past summer. I had not heard until now. David & I were involved with a very special group of Geneseo drama students who had dreams of going to Tacoma to form a new physical theater company. He actually did that journey and my path was altered by a new passion of dance. We reconnected years later thanks to FB. I was so impressed by all the great work he had been doing out in the Pacific NW. He was a great creative spirit. I can still remember riding in his VW Beetle during our college days. If it was raining, your job as shotgun was to pull the rope back & forth that was attached to the non working wipers. That was David. I will miss him...
