EDITH WALKER Obituary

Edith Walker Edith Isabelle Walker, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2018. She was born on December 26, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois, and on June 14, 1939 she married James Oscar Walker. Edie took care of her family in every way. She showed her abiding love for them through her daily actions. She was an excellent seamstress, baker, and cook. In their retirement years, Edie and Jim moved to Gig Harbor, Washington to be close to their children and grandchildren. They spent many of their days enjoying their house and the beautiful views of the Puget Sound and Mount Rainier. Edie also spent 25 years volunteering at the Peninsula Orthopedic Guild Thrift Shop, and continued her caretaking with her grandchildren where her cookie jar was always full and sewing machine was at the ready. She enjoyed many other hobbies throughout her life, including tole painting, reading, crossword puzzles, and Scrabble. During her most recent years, she enjoyed listening to books on tape, spending time with family, and following the Seattle Mariners. Edie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanine and Raul Vonnegut; her daughter-in-law Karen Walker; four grandchildren, Michele, Matt, Mike, and Katie; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, and her son Ron. She will forever live on in our hearts as we will always remember the compassion and love she showed each of us.
