Edward Nabbefeld Obituary

Edward Nabbefeld
July 22, 1929 - May 20, 2022
Tacoma, Washington - Edward Nabbefeld passed away at home on May 20, 2022, with his wife Norie by his side.
He fought cancer and heart failure for years, continuing to work at Fastco through it all.
Ed was born on July 22, 1929, in Appleton, WI, the 3rd of 6 children to Edward and Lucille Nabbefeld.
He enlisted in the army after high school and was stationed at Fort Lewis. Soon after he met Norie and they were happily married 71+ years. They enjoyed traveling, golfing and spending time at their cabin with family and friends.
Ed began his career at Star Iron and Steel as a purchasing agent. In 1963 Don Joyner and Ed founded Fastco Inc., a bolt, nut and fastener wholesale company which is still going strong thanks to a wonderful, loyal crew of talented guys including current partner Lonny Murrey.
Ed is survived by his wife Lenore, daughters Jinnie (Michael), Debbie Knutsen (Gale-deceased), 4 grandchildren Valerie, Katie (Travis), Derek and Scott, 3 great grandchildren, Jack, Mikayla and Shawn, his sister Carmen and many nieces and nephews.
He was buried at New Tacoma Cemetery, and a memorial celebration for him is being planned for a later date. Please visit our guestbook at www.newtacoma.com.

Norie and Eddie and their girls have been very special to me for most of my life. I was raised up the street from them and have fond memories of a life more like the Wonder Years than the norm. I remember neighborhood picnics and playing softball in their back yard with much of the neighborhood playing and when all of we kids piled into their little car to go swimming. We had so much fun. Eddie gave me my first martini, which was still half there when we left over three hours later. I will always be grateful when they rented their little white house to me, when I had my baby girl. Eddie was always so glad to see her and watched over her, making sure the girls held her properly! It was all so sweet. Norie and Eddie were a wonderful couple, both stepping in at any time we needed a parent when one of ours wasn´t available. We lived in that kind of neighborhood and had that kind of relationship with the families there.

May the Lord bless Norie, Jinnie and Debbie and the rest of Ed´s family in this difficult time. May they come to understand that he is not gone forever and that we will meet him again when it is our turn to go.

I am so sad that Eddie has joined the ranks of those we´ve loved and are gone. I will miss him. I am thankful that the Lord gave us Eddie who made us feel welcome with his smile, entertained with a joke and was always interested in what we had to say and I know that we will meet again.

Mr. Nabbefeld you were such a great inspiration. I have such memories of you and your wife . You gave me directions on how to get to work thru the tideflats. I wish I could have seen you
before leaving the clinic.
I will miss you but I know we'll see each other again.
Mrs. Nabbefeld may peace of the Lord be with you and your family .
