GARY RAINBOTH Obituary

Gary Vernon Rainboth Age 78, of Spanaway, WA, was born on August 5, 1939 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, WA to Vernon Gray Rainboth and Rose May Rainboth (Blythe). He passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA on Saturday, April 21, 2018, after a long and courageous bout with COPD and congestive heart failure. He is survived by his wife Sharon Cooley, step-daughter Kim Molestad and her children Emily and Jimmy Molestad, sister Carol Reed, children Corey Rainboth of Brier, WA, Roni Davidson of Williston, ND, Traci Barlow of Vacaville, CA, and Jeff Rainboth of Nampa, ID; grandchildren Aaron Rainboth, Justin Schildhauer, Lacy Dodge, Jena Schildhauer, Billy Davidson, Brandon Eason, KC Craven, Chelsea Jensen, Dakota Taylor, Ashli Nelson, Shauni Holcomb, Emily Maupin, and Jared Rainboth, and multiple great-grandchildren. Gary married his first wife, Lynda Bernice Shreve, on April 28, 1961, and they remained married until her death on October 12, 2009. He remarried on May 29, 2013 to Sharon Cooley, to whom he remained married to until his death. Gary attended West Seattle High School, excelling in football and baseball while there. Following high school, Gary served in the National Guard as a Military Policeman. In the mid-1960's Gary played semi-professional football with the Seattle Cavaliers. Gary worked in the optical industry all his life, most of that time in the contact lens manufacturing business. He started out on the production line, working his way up to manager, and eventually earned a position as a branch manager. Following that he started his own business, Intermountain Contact Lens Company, which operated from the mid-1970's until he sold the business in 1984. Gary subsequently was an Eyewear Sales Representative until his retirement. Gary loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, whether it be fishing, golfing, camping, going to a sporting event, or just watching a game on television. Gary was an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Huskies, and Boise State Broncos. A private family service will be held on Sunday, May 6th. Arrangements are under the care of Hill Funeral Home of Puyallup, WA.
