Thank you to everyone who took the time to share your memories of John. I so enjoyed reading them. Some of them made me laugh out loud. What wonderful tributes. John would have truly enjoyed reading them. Happy Birthday, John. You are missed. I love you.

Dear Brandy,
I had thought of you the day before I read your papa's notice in the Sunday paper. I have lots of memories of you from our Manitou days. I remember meeting your dad a couple of times when we were kids and I recall him as being a nice man. I am truly sorry for your loss and I wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and I pray that God bring you and your family peace.

Although I haven't seen John for years I'm very saddened to hear of his passing and my prayers go out to his family and freinds. I was part of the "Oakland House" gang and John was one of the best roomates I ever had. Some of the best times I had as a kid I shared with John. There was the "homegrown" baseball team years, the rock festivals and concerts we attended, and the rentals we shared (Fife with Millerin, North 8th and K with Jeglum, and the Oakland house with Davidson, Lewis, Millerin, McClelland and a cast of dozens). You will be missed John, but not forgotten. Remember the Kookla Flag!

John was my first childhood true friend. Our friendship began in 2nd grade. We were close friends for many years. I'll always remember the early days, especially our teenage years. I know John is looking down on us all and will still find a way to play a practical joke on us!

Oman, what can one say? I knew him longer and better than most. One stubborn fella, that’s for sure, but his heart was as big as his attitude. I figure he’s sitting with his back against a big fir tree, just watching the river flow by.
My thoughts are with Brandy, Lorissa, Dylan and the rest of the family.

Me and John were two days apart in birthdays. I knew him as a prankster, fighter, fiercely independent, stubborn man and a true friend. He called me Hale until I got married–then he called me Exhale. As a friend I've known since school days, I will miss him the rest of my life. Wishing peace and sympathy to John's family and friends. Sally (Hale) Bronow
