Michael Olson Obituary

Michael Olson
February 23, 1969 - August 7, 2023
Steilacoom, Washington - In loving memory of Michael David Olson, who left us unexpectantly in the early afternoon on August 7, 2023 at the age of 54. Born on February 23, 1969 to David and Arvis Olson in Seattle, WA. Michael's spiritual faith led him to be baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Parkland, WA. He selflessly loved his family and friends and always putting first his beloved wife Cindy and stepdaughter Anna.
Michael grew up in Parkland, WA where he was a very active youth who possessed an innate athletic ability, developing into an exceptional athlete awarding him many accolades in youth sports. Baseball became his first love earning him an athletic scholarship to Oklahoma University and later went on to graduate from Pacific Lutheran University.
Amongst his athletic achievements, Michael was an avid golfer, achieving an impressive 7 hole-in-ones throughout his life. His fun-loving spirit drew people to him from all walks of life finding a new best friend wherever he went. His engaging and magnetic personality had a fun way of often naming those he cared about the most with an endearing nickname. Michael's loyalty and commitment were unmatched nurturing his friendships with the purest of intention. He had a way of always letting his loved ones know how special they were to him and what they meant to him in his life. He was a gift to all who loved him.
Michael's busy nature found peace and serenity in nature and longed to be in the quiet of the sun amongst the sounds of nature. He found solace in these moments with dreams of one day sitting on his porch painting in peace and quiet. His profound love of animals gave him many wonderful and beloved companions throughout his lifetime.
Michael is survived by his wife Cindy and stepdaughter Anna, his parents David and Arvis Olson, sister Jana Gedde (Pete), Mark Olson (Mary), Julie Monson (Scott), numerous nieces and nephews, and his canine friends Odie and Fanny.
A public memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on September 17, 2023 at 3pm. Reception to follow. Donations in Michael's name can be made to First Tee South Puget Sound.

We feel cheated that we only knew Mike for thirteen years of his short life. A friend, a business associate, a Dad, Husband and someone idolized by our grand children he was truly a kind, thoughtful and loyal friend. I will personally remember the many golf trips, meals and business meetings with this man who made everyone feel special to him. Our family will miss this caring and loving man for the rest of our time. Rest In Peace Michael we love you!

Mike was a blessing to me and our community. He helped our nonprofit organization CJK Community Homes house hundreds of individuals in Pierce County. Thank you for your support and partnership. You will be missed.

We attended Keithley Junior High and Washington High School with Mike. Many fond memories of the "cool kid" with unlaced high-top Nikes! Although they lost touch after high school, Ryan has many stories he's shared with me over the years, and even more since hearing about this recent sad news. We are so sorry for his family and will keep them in our prayers.

Mike was a wonderful client and friend. We all loved it when he would come into the office. He always asked about our families, etc. and had the best smile. He will be greatly missed.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mike since he was a little kid. He and my brother played baseball together. Mike was always a fun loving guy who loved to laugh and be the guy with the smile. Like all the Olson family, Mike made people feel excepted and loved. At PLU, his Dad kept me updated on how Mike was doing, and we ended up living close to each other years later. Mike will be greatly missed. Rest in peace dear friend. Until we meet again. Love you brother.

I didn´t know Mike well; wish I had. He would stop into our office often and I truly enjoyed every interaction I had with him. Mike was kind, supportive, funny, and a good man. I wish for Mike´s family and friends gentle time to grieve and a smile when you recall your special time with him.

The Conley Family will truly miss our dear friend who encouraged and interacted with our children and grandchildren as if they were family. The memories we have of spending time with Mike in California,
playing golf and family dinners will have a lasting impression. Mike´s golf support and encouragement will stay with Conner, our grandson for a lifetime. Fifty- four is much too young. We will cherish the memory of our dear friend Mike forever.
