I am not sure if you noticed that under relationship I listed neighbor. although we did not live next to each other, we were neighbors in the sense that we were both regulars at many community functions. and a community is made up of many neighbors.
with that being said I would have loved to call nancy a friend. in fact to me she was a friend, and she helped me get through the loss of my dad. about fifteen years ago there was a silent auction. although I don't remember the cause it was one of many that nancy would donate time to. one of the items you could bid on was having nancy interview you and write up your life story. my dad placed the winning bid and nancy actually wrote a condensed version of my grandmas life. I still have copies of it and it has been cherished by many members of my family.
last year my father passed away and I was hit with the loss of my dad who was also my best friend. when I contacted nancy to ask if she would write the same kind of thing about my dad for me she said "i would be honored" she also refused to accept any money for her time or trouble.
knowing how important it was to me not only did she write up his story, she also wrote a brief piece for the suburban times about him.
when I think of her I will always remember somebody who cared about her fellow "neighbors" I know I will be forever grateful for the time she took to help a grief stricken soul begin to heal. my heart goes out to her family and please know that nancy will be missed.
there is more I would love to share with her family feel free to contact me at 253-677-0935 or [email protected]
