Raymond Correa Obituary

Raymond Walter Correa Sr, 84, of Fircrest, Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on June 11, 2025. He was a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who is deeply missed. Raymond was born on October 21, 1940, in Wahiawa, Hawaii. He was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School, class of '58, lettering in football.

Ray married his high school sweetheart, Irene A. Haskell a Leilehua High School graduate, on July 16, 1960. They raised their 4 sons and daughter in Capt. Cook, above Greenwell Park.

Raymond and Irene shared 56 years of marriage together until her passing on May 29, 2017.

He joined the Hawai'i County Police Department on the Big Island, where he served with dedication, starting as a patrol officer before becoming a detective, until his retirement on June 30, 1996.

Following his retirement from the department, he continued his commitment to community safety by working as a supervisor for Wackenhut Airport Security, at Kona International Airport.

In 2003, Ray and Irene both officially retired and relocated to the Pacific Northwest, making Fircrest, Washington their new home.

Ray will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father, and a loving grandpa; a man who dedicated his life to ohana, service, and community.

Ray leaves behind his sons, Ray Jr (Lono) of Wood Valley, Ka'u; Nolan (Sweetie) of Kailua-Kona; Lincoln (Aileen), and John (Danielle) of University Place, Washington.

He is also survived by his daughter, Raynette Debus (Joey) of Kailua-Kona. He leaves 12 grandchildren: Bryson (Dandy), Whitney, Aaron, Chase (Raquel), Keanu, Kaleo (Erin), Jordan, Malosi, Kawika (Daisy), Kamalani, Nainoa and Ethan (Aurora); and 10 great grandchildren: Kennedy, Logan, Olivia, Coda, Kaleb, Lennon, Ellie Rae, Theodore, Tayte and Keanu. He is also survived by brothers Dennis (Marilyn) and Walter of Lacey, Washington; sister Cathy Yamashita (Miles) of Kailua-Kona; and many nieces and nephews as well.

He was preceded in death by his lovely wife Irene; his parents, Walter Sr. and Beatrice; brother Ronald; and sisters-in-laws Darlene and Jonarie.

Our dad's wish is to be buried alongside our mom, his dear Irene in Hawai'i.

A Hui Hou Dad.

A Hui Hou Papa Ray.
