Raymond Sharpe Obituary

Raymond Owen Sharpe

February 7, 1939 - April 18, 2024

Tacoma, Washington - Raymond Owen Sharpe, aged 85, passed away on April 18, 2024, in Tacoma, WA. Born on February 7, 1939, Ray was known for his generosity and skillful hands, always ready to help someone with a project, whether it involved fixing or building.

Ray's professional life was marked by significant contributions to the local business community. He owned Cascade Sign in the South Tacoma Way business corridor and served as president of the South Tacoma Way Business Association in the early 1980s. Later, he became the Maintenance Superintendent for Baden Sports in Federal Way, where he was responsible for designing and fabricating innovative product packaging machines until his retirement in the late 1990s. His retirement was only nominal; Ray continued working as a contractor and handyman, mastering everything from welding to wiring and carpentry to automotive work.

His personal life was filled with joy and activities. Ray was an avid fisherman in Puget Sound, enjoyed golfing, and loved traveling to Mexico. He spent many years volunteering with the Totem Yacht Club and the Marine Daffodil Parade, even serving as the Yacht Club Commodore.

Ray graduated from Rodgers High School and later attended the University of Washington, furthering his education and preparing for a successful career. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who remember him as a loving and dedicated family man.

Ray is survived by his wife, Charlene; children, Neal (Robin) Delargy, Steve (Diana) Sharpe, Tania (John) Klippert, Rob (Kris) Sharpe, and Jennifer (Greg) Ashlock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nadeen, and his son, Neal Delargy.

A "Celebration of Life - Open House" will be held at Totem Yacht Club in Tacoma on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to stop by and honor Ray's memory. Attendees are invited to bring their favorite appetizer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cancer cause of your choice in remembrance of Ray Sharpe. His legacy of kindness, skill, and community involvement will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.
