RAYMOND STEWART Obituary

Raymond "Ray" E. Stewart Longtime Lewis County resident Raymond E. Stewart, 74, died at his home in Centralia Thursday, Nov. 8. Born Sept. 21, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN to Mitchell Earnest and Ruth Ann (Shelton) Stewart, he lived there until joining the U.S. Army in April 1956. After 24 years of military service, including two tours in Vietnam, he retired Feb. 29, 1980. He later worked in civil service at Fort Lewis, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Centralia-Chehalis Elks Lodge, American Legion, and Veterans Memorial Museum. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Linda, at home in Centralia; three daughters, Sheila and her husband Terry Bower and their daughters Daisy and Ruby of Chehalis; and Peggy Harrell and Becky Hooks, both of Georgia; numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Bush, and brother, Charles, both of Indianapolis; a brother, Ronald, of Florida; a brother, Dell Carter, of Brazil; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be donations to Veterans Memorial Museum, 100 S.W. Veterans Way, Chehalis, WA 98532. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at Veterans Memorial Museum, Chehalis. A luncheon will follow.
