ROBERT SHERRON

Robert B. Sherron Robert was born February 23, 1915 in Alamo, TN to Hattie and William Sherron. He maintained a close and loving relationship all of his siblings, who all preceded him in death. Robert was inducted into the army and fought in World War II. He fought in North Africa and Italy, and obtained the rank of Sergeant. He found employment with the U.S Government at Ft. Lewis, after his honorable discharge. Robert and his wife Linnie made Tacoma their home, where they raised three children, Alvin, Patricia, and Marilyn. Linnie preceded Robert in death in 1973. In 1980 Robert married Clara Cox, who also preceded him in death in 1993. Robert joined Allen A.M.E. Church of Tacoma in 1946. His church family became his extended family. He was a Steward, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher, but excelled as an usher where he was elected Board President, then State President, and last, the National President of the National United Church Ushers. Robert served as President of the Tacoma Rose Society and President of the Washington State Association of Parliamentarians. Robert departed this life July 8, just five weeks after the loss of his beloved son-in-law and friend Andrew David. He is survived and missed by his loving children Alvin (Kimberly), Patricia (Byron), Marilyn, and Grady Cox, as well as his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. The viewing is July 16th, 5 to 7 p.m., at New Tacoma Cemetery, 9212 Chambers Creek Road W., University Place. The service is 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17th, at Allen A.M.E. Church, 1233 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Tacoma. Interment will follow at the (Old) Tacoma Cemetery, 4801 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma. The repast will follow with his loving friends at Allen A.M.E.
