Ronald Mason Obituary

Ron was born in Tacoma, WA on August 15, 1945, V-J Day, to William C. and Alice E. Mason. On October 3, 2025, Ron passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family.

Ron was a lifelong resident of Lakewood, WA where he attended Lakeview Elementary, Hutloff Jr. High, and Clover Park High School, class of 1963. Go Warriors!

Ron married Marilyn Deyton in 1964 and together they raised three wonderful children, Shellie Marie Mason, Thomas William Mason (Angie), and Angela Rene Mason-Stolcis (Scott). Ron and Marilyn divorced after twenty-two years together but remained friends for the rest of their lives. He is survived by his three children, Elizabeth Ann Savage, his wife of 27 years, stepchildren Carolyn and Justin Savage, six grandchildren, great grandson, his sister Sharon Dean, and brother Dennis.

At the age of twenty, Ron began his fifty-year career in banking at Household Finance Company where he rose to the position of manager at the Kent office. He then went to work for Puget Sound National Bank (now KeyBank) where he managed the Port of Tacoma branch for twenty- years. While there, Ron met and married Liz Savage, who also worked for the bank. Besides being his best friend and the love of his life, Ron cherished Liz for the many adventures and laughter they shared together. In 1998, Ron's banking career took a new path when he began working for Fife Commercial Bank. He loved the smaller community bank atmosphere and enjoyed helping his many customers until his retirement in 2015.

Ron took pleasure in his annual trips to Reno with his brother Dennis and the guys, fishing and boating on American Lake, riding motorcycles, and family gatherings. Ron was also an avid reader, amassing upwards of 120 books a year. Ron will be dearly remembered for his immense love for life and those he loved, his generosity, and his one-of-a-kind sense of humor.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery between 10 am and 4 pm. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. Yesterday

I knew Ron while working at Puget Sound National Bank for 30 years and I always enjoyed his humor. After I retired in 1998 a number of us (some retired and some still working) would get together for lunch and a lot of times the lunch was at the Poodle Dog Restaurant in Fife and so Ron would make an appearance when he could along with his boss, Jim Davis, another past PSNB banker. After Ron retired I would still call him and we enjoyed talking about the old times at the bank. Ron was a one of a kind of a special person and will be missed.
The photo was taken in 2003 and I wish it were clearer.
