Our mother taught us right and sacrificed so much for me and brothers Dan & Dave. I miss her every day. She always underestimated herself. She was very smart but also humble to a fault. She requested not to have a memorial service, and so the immediate family honored that wish. Our mom also requested her children & grandchildren to toss blue carnations in Honeymoon, the first cove on the left after you cross Fox Island Bridge from the mainland. She loved being an Islander and enjoyed a happy marriage with our stepfather Odin Juvik. She was a rebel in her early years. Despite her Jewish upbringing, she married our dear father Donald C. Millet, a gentile, and as a result,, was somewhat ostracized by the local Jewish community. She held her head high and refused to give in to such intolerance, and my brothers and I learned so much from her example. She truly loved our father Don , who grew up not far from her in the city of Tacoma. And she was entirely devoted to her mother and father, Harry & Dorothy Friedman, as well as her brother Philburn & sister Annette (all grads of Stadium High). Thank you to all who loved our mother Sylvia and who keep her memory alive. Barukh ata Adonai Eloheinu, melekh ha'olam...

Sylvia was always positive! You'd meet her in the halls @ Tahoma Terrace and it made the day better due to her attitude. Even as her physical challenges were greater she kept her faith and smile! I'm glad I saw her recently while back visiting at the Terrace-what a pleasure! Connie Underwood---former resident @ the Terrace

I am very sorry for your loss. I have thought of Sylvia often over the last few years. I really missed her and "doing" her hair after she moved to Tacoma. I know how proud she was of her family.
