Kenneth Nichter Obituary

Kenneth Nichter, 78, Anderson, a selfless steward to God, family, friends and the community, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at St. John's Health System, Anderson, after a sudden illness.
Mr. Nichter served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from IBM after 34 years of service. Following retirement, he was involved with Habitat for Humanity and Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Nichter was a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene.
Born June 27, 1933, in Scipio, he resided in Anderson most of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Zella Barringer Nichter, whom he married April 26, 1953; sons, Ron (Susan) Nichter, Greenfield, and Don (Barbara) Nichter, Fishers; daughters, Cindy (Tim) Crump, Decatur, Ill., and Brenda (Darrin) Earley, Anderson; brothers, Meredith (Vivian) Nichter, John (Jeannie) Nichter and Roger (Nancy) Nichter; sisters, Helen (Ben) Beasley, Wilma Smith, Phyllis Hoffman and Carol White; and eight grandchildren, Jared Nichter, Melanie (Jason) Kwast, Matthew (Kathleen) Crump, Heather Nichter, Hannah Nichter, Ethan Nichter, Austin Earley and Logan Earley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Esther Hunt Nichter; sister, Dorothy Hatton; brothers, Carlos and Donald Nichter; grandchildren, Benjamin and Jenna Nichter; brothers-in-law, Don Hatton, John Smith, Wright Hoffman, Bud White and Robert Barringer; sister-in-law, Shirley Nichter; and nephew, Ryan Nichter.
The Rev. Al Dayton will conduct funeral services at 12:30 p.m. Friday at New Life Church of the Nazarene, 3615 Raible Ave., Anderson.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Church of the Nazarene, 3615 Raible Ave., Anderson, IN 46011.
