Allen Motter Obituary

Allen Motter
May 19, 1927 - May 25, 2023
Kennewick, Washington - Allen Motter left this life peacefully on May 25, 2023 at the age of 96 surrounded by some of the most compassionate caregivers that he was blessed to have with him during his later years. Known affectionately as 'Al' by his life-long high school friends, numerous acquaintances and co-workers, he was born on May 19, 1927 and grew up in Kennewick, Washington where he lived his entire life. He had no siblings and yet spoke lovingly of his childhood with his dedicated parents Harold and Elsye. He was known to all as a kind and gentle man.
Al lovingly married Eunice Klein in 1958 and they became inseparable. She truly was the love of his life and he never left her side until she passed in 2012. They enjoyed cards and games with their many friends and family and could be regularly seen at local square-dancing events. Both were dedicated to the Christian life and their church, Pasco Christian Church and served on the building committee for the church. They were the first couple to be married in the sanctuary there and each served the church in numerous capacities and roles. They loved their church and were always there whenever the doors were open.
While Eunice and Al did not have children together, Al was embraced and loved by all of Eunice's children: Maxine Rhoades and Pearl Ragland; grandchildren: Robert, Pamela, Susan, Paula, Marta, Risa, and Phillip; 17 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-great-grandchildren, (6 generations) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was 'Papa Al" to each and every one of his family and was always ready with a kind word and a hug for each.
Al loved driving and worked for 41 years as a truck driver at Hanford Nuclear Plant where he was awarded numerous recognitions for safety. He belonged to a car club and he and Eunice loved taking drives in their classic 1953 yellow chevy. When Eunice and Al would come to visit, they would leave with huge smiles and waves for their hosts, and two 'honk-honks' on the car horn to remember them. In retirement, Al continued to meet regularly for coffee with his high school buddies where they loved to joke, brag and tell stories. A true friend to the end of his life, he kept his friends close.
Allen Motter will be remembered for his loyalty, his loving spirit, his kindness and his optimism.
'Honk, honk', Al…We all will miss you.
A memorial service to celebrate Allen's life will be held at Pasco Christian Church, 1524 W. Marie Street, Pasco, WA Saturday, July 8th, at 2:00 pm.

I remember Eunice and Al from many years ago and loved their 53 yellow Chevy. They were both very nice people.
