Andrew Takahashi Obituary

Andrew Takahashi
September 28, 1960 - January 24, 2021
Pasco, Washington - Andrew Koji Takahashi, 60, passed peacefully January 24, 2021, at Kadlec Medical Center. He was born September 28, 1960, in Los Angeles, the son of George S. and Fumiko (Suyama) Takahashi.
His love and knowledge of computer science saw him through his career at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratories of California and teaching at California Institute of Technology until his retirement in 2006.
In 2008 he met his soon-to-be bride, Deborah, and moved to Eastern Washington where they were married on February 14, 2009.
He was an active member of the REACH Museum and the Mid Columbia Meals on Wheels and volunteered for both as his health permitted.
As an avid fisherman, he often said that there was no better place to be than toodling around on the many lakes and rivers near the Tri-Cities. To him, the fishing was always good, just sometimes the catching wasn't.
He is survived by, in addition to his wife Deborah (Gibson) Takahashi, his mother Fumiko Takahashi of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; brothers Rick Takahashi of San Diego, CA and Chris Takahashi of Torrance, CA; Sister Debbie Uba of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Brother-in-law Chip Gibson of Kennewick, WA; children by marriage Kenny Patalon and Amanda Sapp both of West Richland, WA; as well as his five grandchildren, Crystalline, Robert, Lindsay, Heather and Zander.
A family service will be held at his Pasco home with a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to The National Kidney Foundation; Mid Columbia Meals on Wheels; or The REACH Museum.
