Joann Lande Obituary
September 30, 1932 - December 18, 2024
Kennewick, Washington - Joann Elizabeth Lande (Hysell) 92, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, from complications of a fall and congestive heart failure. Born on September 30, 1932, in Newell, South Dakota, she was the seventh of ten children.
Joann is survived by seven of her ten children Donna Anderson, Terry McMaster, Debbie Cassidy, Lynette Wick, Scott Messenger, Janie Gutierrez, and Kristian Webber along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters Nola Persinger and Carol Cooley, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Lande, and children Danny Messenger, Randy Messenger, and Diane Lande.
Joann took great pride in being a devoted homemaker, an incredible cook, and a skilled seamstress. She was an animated storyteller, a fierce game competitor, and a woman of resilience and strength. Her humor and classic Joann-isms will live on in our hearts.
We are choosing to remember our mother with the love that honors her spirit! She was the most resilient, strong person we have ever known. She would face any problem/sickness like a warrior, she was a survivor and ever-adapting. She was a very spirited, well-dressed firecracker with the tenacity of a lion.
She dedicated her life to the Lord and is now our angel watching over us.
Mom, we love you beyond words.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on March 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, located at 418 North Yelm, Kennewick Wa 99301.

I recall your mom and father at church, always dressed so lovely. When my mom was in respite for a short stay, your mom greeted my mom recalling her from Kennewick First Lutheran Church and said she´d keep an eye on my mom. Condolences Debbie and Steve.

Joann was one of the strongest, faithful followers of Christ that I have ever known. She was thoughtful, fun, forgiving. I'll miss her greatly and look forward to singing in that heavenly choir with her one day!
