JOSEPHINE NIELSEN Obituary
Our much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at the age of 94.
Joan was born February 6, 1917, to Milton and Julia (Anna) Lynn in American Falls, ID. Joan graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1934 and attended college at Central Washington State, majoring in Business. In 1936, she married Irwin D. Nielsen in Tacoma, WA. They moved to Richland in 1945.
Joan owned and managed Tri-City Bible Book Store, taking over from her father who founded it. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Richland and taught Sunday school there for many years. Most notably, she was passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.
Joan is lovingly remembered by her sons, Ronald and James Nielsen; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irwin; and two sons, Robert and Kenneth Nielsen.
A viewing will be held Thursday and Friday, November 17 and 18 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Einan's Funeral Home in Richland. A funeral service will take place Saturday, November 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, followed by a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens and a celebration of life at 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
