LEE HATFIELD


Kennewick, Wash.


Merle Lee Hatfield, 54, of Kennewick, passed away May 9, 2011, at Kennewick General Hospital.


Lee was born September 20, 1956, in Scottsdale, KS, to Merle and Karol Hatfield. He graduated from Wichita County High School. He later married Vicki Weber of Leota, KS, and moved to the Tri-Cities in February 1977. He worked for Hanford as a Nuclear Operator and has resided in Kennewick ever since. He accepted multiple awards for his outstanding ethics and commitment to his profession and colleagues. Although they divorced, Vicki and Lee’s respect and compassion for one another remained intact.


Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, water sports, hiking at White Pass and Rimrock mountains. He loved spending time with his friends and cherished every moment spent with his two boys and grandchildren.


He is survived by his children, Justin Hatfield, 29, of Kennewick, and Brandon Hatfeild, 27, of Kennewick. His sisters, Beth Jamison of Quincy, KS. Leann Anderson of Kennewick, WA, Merritt Kren-zel of Leota, KS, Lynell Miley of Shawnee Mission, KS. His stepmom, Lillian Hatfield of Kenne-wick, WA, and his two grandchildren who are so proudly named after him, Connor Lee, 6, and Zachariah David Lee, 4 months.


Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at United Pentecostal, 201 S. Auburn, with Pastor Wayne Clemenson officating. In Lieu of flowers, take your children to the family fishing pond, pull in a whopper fish, kill that trophy buck in memory of Lee.
