LISA KIRKLAND Obituary
Lisa Lane Kirkland, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and dear friend was born February 28th, 1964, to Phyllis Sondrol and Ron Kirkland. She was a life-long resident of the Tri-Cities and died unexpectedly in her home on October 10, 2009. She is survived by her mother, siblings and three children. Her siblings are Tim Ford, Felicia Darwen, and Nora Bina. Her children are: Christopher Kirkland, Brycen Alder and April Alder. She also has a two-year-old granddaughter, Amiya Alder.
She is fondly remembered by her family and friends as a tall, striking, beautiful woman, with a quick, perfect smile and a musical laugh. Lisa was as gorgeous on the inside as she was on the outside. She had the softest, gentlest heart, a vibrant spirit, and a great sense of humor, making us laugh, even in the most somber of moments. She was a brilliantstoryteller, captivating everyone she had conversations with. She saw the funny in everything and the unique beauty in everyone. She was talented in cosmetology and loved to perform makeovers on her friends and family. She was an avid music lover, especially rock music. Lisa very enthusiastically nurtured the musical talent of her oldest son and took Christopher with her to rock concerts. The first concert Christopher remembers was when he was seven years old. Lisa truly enjoyed gardening and could create fabulous gardens with cascades of flowers and foliage everywhere. She loved nature. Over the years she adopted many cats and dogs, each one she cherished and adored. She was a gifted decorator at home and loved beautiful artwork, tapestries and furniture.
In her earliest jobs, like her mother and grandmother, she worked in the beauty industry. Her entire life, she appreciated and surrounded herself in everything girly; perfume, pinks, sparkly jewelry and pretty clothes. On the other hand, she loved the open road, fast cars and loud rock music. In the mid 1990's she acquired a CDL and drove big trucks. Later, she traded in her Semi for a Yellow School Bus and for about 5 years enjoyed her job and every child she transported for the Burbank School District.
Lisa's deepest passion was found in the boundless love of her children. She was very proud of her son Brycen. She often told her family and friends of all of his many accomplishments. He gave her many reasons to brag, including his diligence in school and the outcome of a promising position subcontracting for Bechtel. Lisa spoke daily to her twenty-three-year-old daughter, sometimes up to six times. Often times, they were mistaken for sisters, which Lisa especially enjoyed.
By far, what Lisa considered her greatest masterpiece is April's two-year-old daughter Amiya. Amiya brought her indescribable joy and inspiration to the end.
She will be so missed by her family and her friends. Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, October 20th, at West Side Church in the South Building, 615 Wright Avenue, Richland. Please send your condolences c/o Felicia and Neil Darwen, 2139 Newhaven Loop, Richland WA 99352. In lieu of flowers, donations to cover the expenses of her untimely death would be gratefully accepted.
