Robert Cassidy Obituary

West Richland, Wash.
Einan's Funeral Home
Bob was promoted to heaven's starting lineup, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 17, 2004.
Bob stepped into the starting lineup June 20, 1929, in Piqua, Ohio, as the oldest of three children of Chester and Eva Cassidy.
He spent his youth playing football, basketball, baseball and pranks, a skill he continuously refined. He graduated from Piqua High School in 1947.
He was stationed at Camp Hanford with the Army in 1951 and, to this day, still is not sure why he was issued a rifle. His two years in the service were spent mostly playing football, baseball and fastpitch softball.
Bob married Pat Mulligan, the love of his life, on September 8, 1953. They shared four children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Bob played for the Tri-City Braves in 1954. After determining he wouldn't be playing for the Cincinnati Reds in the very near future, he focused his competitive fires on fastpitch softball, playing on several 'legendary' Tri-City teams.
When he hung up his glove and spikes, he took up golf and became proficient enough to beat his age several times. In addition to being a player, he refereed high school basketball and football to stay connected with the games he loved.
He worked as a radiation monitor for various Hanford contractors from 1955 until retiring in 1992 from Westinghouse Hanford.
Retirement provided the opportunity for woodworking, gardening and playing more golf but just on the days that ended in 'y.'
Bob is survived by his wife, Pat Cassidy; his son, Steve Cassidy, his wife, Debbie and their children, Cameron, Karen, Kyle and his daughter, Daisy; his son, Mike Cassidy, his wife, Monica, and their children, Brandon and Bradley; his son, Tom, his wife, Grace and their children, Tommy, Stephanie, Eddie Duarte, his wife, Stacey and their children, Kimberly and Jason and Angel Fisher, her husband, Tony, and their children, Hailey and Lacy; his sister, Janet Thiebeau her husband, Jack and their children, Jeff and Jerry; and his sister, Sandy Ferguson and her daughter, Angie.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and daughter Paula Cassidy.
Dad, we love you and miss you. May the fairways always rise to meet your drives, may your putts always find the bottom of the cup, and may all the pitches you see be drop balls.
A public graveside will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Sunday, August 22, 2004, at 1 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. at West Side Church, 603 Wright St., Richland.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to West Side Church.
