Sully Bayless Obituary

Sully Bayless
November 25, 1938 - November 27, 2022
Kennewick, Washington - Mack Sullivan "Sully" Bayless died on November 27 in Kennewick. He was 84.
He was born in Kilgore, TX on Nov. 25, 1938 to Leeds and Sue Bayless. They moved to the Tri Cities in 1943. Sully graduated from Columbia High in 1957 and was a member of the first graduating class of Columbia Basin College in 1959. He married his junior high-school sweetheart, Lorita (Jenne) in 1962. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1963.
The couple moved back to the Tri Cities to raise their three children. Sully also returned to CBC to start a career that lasted over 40 years. He served as a business administration instructor, Director of Admissions and Dean of Faculty. He continued to teach part time after his formal retirement in 2010. He was also a realtor.
In his spare time, he coached little league baseball, basketball and football for over 10 years. He was an education advocate, having assisted Pasco schools with various fundraising efforts. His favorite getaways were to Leavenworth and Palm Springs. He was a World War II history buff who visited some of the sites during a European trip in 1988. Sully was a classic car connoisseur and a huge fan of old movies. A favorite activity was to strike up a conversation with strangers. He was always willing to help someone. Sully's great legacy lives on.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lorita. He is survived by daughter Gina Richey of Richland; son Mark (Debbie) of Kennewick; son Kirk (Jennifer) of Victorville, CA; and grandchildren Annelise Bayless, Delaney Richey, Shaylee Richey and Evan Bayless, all of the Tri Cities. He is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Don Brackenbush and nieces Christa Brackenbush and Lesa (Chris) Ford and family, all of the greater Seattle area.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at Parkview Estates in Kennewick, who provided excellent care to Sully during his final days.
A memorial service is pending.

Sully was one of my favorite teachers. After class at cbc , we would often enjoy a cocktail at the Red Lion. A true gentalman.

My memories of Sully were enjoyable visits over the span of many years at family gatherings or more recently visiting Sully and Lorita at Parkview. He always had questions to ask and an interesting conversation. He was kind, thoughtful and generous. He had a curious mind and a keen interest in people. Sully will be remembered by the many people whose lives he touched with a kind word and sincere interest in what they had to say.
