David Shaffer Obituary

David F. Shaffer, of Varden, Wayne County, died Sunday morning at Mercy Hospital Scranton. His wife of 45 years is the former Sylvia Parks Shaffer.
Born in Varden on September 10, 1935 son of the late Mead and Nancy Oakey Shaffer.
He was a 1953 graduate of the Lake Ariel Consolidated School. He also attended technical school. A United States Air Force Veteran he served during the Korean War.
He worked in the Newport News Shipyard, Virginia as a submarine vibration and sound technician. He also worked for Comcast, Wilkes-Barre, and the Departemnt of the Navy at the Philadelphia Naval Yard. And most recently Salem Hardware, Hamlin.
A member of the Lake Ariel United Methodist, the Evergreen Hunting Club where he was Treasurer, and a member of the Varden Conservation Advisory Committee David was a kind, gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed sports,
working outdoors, hunting, and animals.
Surviving are daughter Tiffany Shaffer and companion Kimberly Czaja, Middletown, CT., and a son Eroh and wife Karen, Varden. A brother Dr. Mead Shaffer, Boothwyn.
The Funeral will be Thursday at 11:00am in the James Wilson Funeral Home Rt. 296 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00pm.
Interment, East Canaan Cemetery, S. Canaan.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr, Honesdale 18431 or The Varden Conservation Area c/o Promised Land State Park, Greentown, PA, 18426 -9735
