Robert Monaghan Obituary
Born on December 2, 1941 in Honesdale, he was the son of he late Frank J. and Kathryn M. Fox Monaghan.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard in Honesdale. Former owner of Martin Caufield Memorial Works, he later became a licensed realtor, mortgage broker and auctioneer. An avid golfer, he was a lifetime member of the Honesdale Golf Club and President of the Honesdale Cemetery Association since 1995. A former member of the Honesdale Planning Commission and a member of Protection Engine #3 Fire Company. Love for his Irish heritage inspired him to organize the local "Irish Celebration" held on St. Patrick's Day.
He is also survived by his three sons, Kevin and wife Sylvia, of Lewisburg, PA, Phillip and wife Rebecca, of Lake Ariel, PA and Christopher and wife Debbie, of Webster, IN; two brothers F.J. and wife Evelyn of Honesdale, Michael and wife Linda of New Hampshire; two sisters Margaret Lilje and husband Alex and Theresa Dux and husband Philip all of Honesdale; a sister-in-law Elizabeth Monaghan of West Chester, PA; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two siblings, Martin M. Monaghan and Molly Monaghan Hannon and his step-mother Mary Fox Monaghan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Queen of Peace Church in Hawley. As per Bob's request, private interment will be in Glen Dyberry Cemetery, Honesdale. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. Condolences: www.hesslingfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Honesdale Cemetery Association, 44 Cherokee Dr. Honesdale, PA 18431.

ROBERT "Red" Monaghan was a classmate and real good friend. We caddied at Honesdale Golf club together for years. We were also Altar Boys together for years at St John's Church and he also sang in Choir at Church for years. Bob also served his country in Army National Guard and served his community for many years. RIP Brother Bob Monaghan.
