Frederick Gaudette Obituary

Frederick Lewis Gaudette of South Main Street, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the Diamond Hill Nursing Center in Troy with his loving family at his side. He was 89.
Born in Mechanicville on September 13, 1924, son of the late Robert and Eudora (D'Avignon) Gaudette. He is the husband of the late Edna E. (LeClair) Gaudette who passed away September 2, 1984.
Fred is a veteran of the United States Army and served in the 103rd Infantry Regiment and the 43rd Infantry Division in the South Pacific Theater of Operations from May 1943 through January 1946. He was recognized by President Harry Truman for his services.
Prior to his service, he worked as a Rewind Operator for the Stillwater Tissue Mill and the paper mill in Mechanicville. He went on to work for the NYS DOT until his retirement in 1984. Fred is also a life member of the Stillwater Fire Department and the Victory Mills Fire Department and was a member of the Maverick's Junior Drum and Bugle Corp of Stillwater.
Survivors include his sons, Frederick Gaudette of Victory Mills, Robert and Carol Gaudette of Mechanicville; a daughter, Linda O'Connor of Cheshire, Conn; his sisters, Geraldine Smith of Gansevoort and Louise Patenaude of Stillwater, and daughter-in-law Patricia (Coon) Gaudette of Mechanicville. Also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by his son, Phillip Arthur Gaudette, and sister, Shirley Mehan.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 27, at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville. Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial, with military honor,s will be in the family plot in Stillwater Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the Stillwater Fire Department, PO Box 411, Stillwater, NY 12170 in loving memory of Fred Gaudette.

to the Gaudette family and Rick I was lucky to have known Fred for a lot of years he was truly an easy guy to get along with I remember if I had a question about the Fire Dept he would take the time to tell you in the words you would understand. What a guy. He will be missed
