Harriet McBride Obituary

WATERFORD -- Harriet T. McBride, 83, of Jay St. passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family at her daughter's home on Saturday, December 15, 2012.
Born and educated in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late George and Clara Seaton Durkee. She resided in Cohoes for a period of time and then moved to Waterford in 1956.
Harriet was a shoemaker by trade and in her earlier years practiced her craft in Hoosick Falls. She later operated a child daycare center in Waterford. Harriet was always young at heart. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford.
Harriet was the widow of Ray McBride who died in August of this year.
She is the mother of Mary T. Schoonmaker and mother-in-law of Sgt. Richard Schoonmaker Troy Police Department retired.
She is predeceased by her infant daughter Kathleen and her brother Wesley Durkee.
Also surviving are her grandchildren Deborah, Richard Jr., Raymond, Candas and Michael as well as several nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Sixth and Broad streets, Waterford. Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
At the request of the family there will be no public viewing hours.
Those who wish may make contributions to the Waterford Emergency Team in care of the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford, NY 12188.

To Harriet's family: Tom and I are so sorry for the loss of your mom. Harriet babysat our kids, Scott and Brett Thomsen,from babies to five years old and we couldn't have asked for a more loving person than her. She was a wonderful woman with a huge heart. Love, Tom and Cate Thomsen xoxoxox
