Raymond Williams Obituary

WILLIAMS SR., RAYMOND WATERFORD - Raymond Williams, Sr., 89, of Third Street, and former longtime resident of Troy, died Monday October 31, at the home of his son, following a brief illness. Born in Greenwich, NY, August 10, 1922, son of the late Albert and Effie Williams, Ray was a US Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific aboard the sea-plane tender USS Onslow. A supervisor with the City of Troy Sewer Dept. for over 30 years, until his retirement. A member of the Lansingburgh VFW and the Trinity Episcopal Church of Lansingburgh. Ray enjoyed bowling and sports of all kinds, and loved to argue with anyone. His wife of 54 years, Rosemary Morelli Williams died in 2010, and he was also predeceased by his large family of brothers and sisters. Survivors include 7 children: Raymond, Jr., Harold and wife Dorothy, Donald and wife Sharon all of Troy , William and wife Marie of Waterford, Rosemary Bradley, Christina and husband Charles Spaulding, Irene and husband Davie O'Melia all of Troy and Fred and wife Michele Adams of Troy, along with 24 grand and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 7 PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial in Hudson View Cemetery. Calling hours at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Lansingburgh V F W.
