Robert Browne Obituary

Troy - Robert G. ‘Rob’ Browne, Jr., 71, of Hialeah Drive died suddenly Thursday, December 20, 2018, at his residence.Born in Patterson, NJ, he was son of the late Robert G. Browne, Sr. and Blanche Leonard Browne and loving husband for 41 years to Carol Testo Browne. He was raised in Patterson, NJ and resided in Troy most of his life. Rob was a 1965 graduate of Troy High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College, Harper College and the College of St. Rose.Rob was a self employed general contractor for 40 years. His customers were always impressed with his quality work.He was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church and a member of the School Board for several years. A regular customer of Duncan’s Dairy Bar, he was not only fond of the food, but the great conversation that would always be awaiting his arrival. He was also a color guard in the Marine Corps and stationed on the USS Randolph during the Vietnam War.Rob created many cherished friendships while serving customers at Hank’s Farm Stand in Wynantskill. He thoroughly enjoyed his summers of picking and selling fresh produce with his family. Fishing was his passion. Many of his days were spent relaxing by the pond in his back yard, patiently waiting for a bite.There was nothing more important to Rob than his family and friends. He never ceased to make those around him feel unconditionally loved. The amount of kindness he carried in his heart is unequivocal, and will continue to shine brightly on this earth long after his physical departure.Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Robert S. and Eric S. Browne, both of Troy; a sister, Betsy (Larry) Smith, Averill Park; a brother, James E. (Anne) Browne, Defreestville. He was predeceased by a sister, Bonnie Czech. He is also survived by his loving brother and sister-in-laws; Thomas Testo (Linda), Robert Testo (Cecilia), Anthony Testo (Jim Gette) and Kathy Testo Kresge (Mark Razzano) along with many nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends may call at the Our Lady of Victory Church 55 North Lake Avenue Troy on Friday, December 28th from 10-11AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM with Rev. Randall Patterson, Pastor.Interment will be in St. Jean’s Cemetery Troy.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Robert G. Browne, Jr. to the Wounded Warrior Project 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300 Jacksonville, FL 32256.
