Rose Nirsberger Obituary

Rose Marie Nirsberger Rose Marie Nirsberger, 66, died peacefully at Albany Medical Center following a long illness. Rose was born on December 24, 1949 in Troy, NY and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Angeline (Marvelli) Catellier. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt. She gracefully raised her three daughters while working full time as a nurse. She spent her long and valued career of 43 years in nursing providing care for patients and their families at St. Mary’s hospital in Troy, NY. She always provided laughter and a caring touch to those who most needed it. Her sense of humor resulted in great entertainment for her friends and family. Her greatest joys were her six grandchildren. Their special times cooking, shopping and joking around with her will always be fondly remembered. As she approached her retirement, she enjoyed a number of cruises with her friends. These vacations were recalled as some of the best experiences of her life. She was a 1967 graduate of Troy High School. While raising her family, she worked as a CNA and later received her nursing degree from Albany Medical Center in the late 1970’s. Rose is survived by three daughters, Heidi (John) Munnelly of Cumberland, RI, Angela Nirsberger of Troy, NY, and Rosemary (Thuan) Ton of Albany. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: MaKayla Nirsberger, Shelby Munnelly, Juancito Monegro, Angel Munnelly, Gabriel Munnelly and Renee Ton as well as Loan Ton who she always considered a daughter. Additional survivors include her brother Michael Catellier and his wife Paula as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Rose’s family extends a very special thanks to longtime friend Karen Court who has been a rock and steady support and is a truly incredible friend to our family. Another special thank you to all of the nurses, doctors, and other health care providers that took care of our mom over the past year. The comfort and care they provided to our family and our mom was superior and we are forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, we ask that everyone reach out to a nurse and thank them for their dedication and sacrifice. Write them a note, give them a hug, take them out to lunch, make them smile, make sure they take care of themselves and their own personal health, is what we ask. Nurses are special beyond words and we need to take care of these amazing people. Please save the evening of 9/10/16 for a celebration of our mother’s life. Please RSVP and/or send special comments photos or stories to [email protected] by 8/31/16 with your contact information. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont, NY. 518-861-6611.

Thank you everyone so much for saying so many nice things. My Grandmother was so nice and so funny. I am one of her Nephew's. Again thank you so much for all you have done. I still remember the party we had for her that she wanted us to have. She asked us to drop her ashes in the Carribean sea.

Dear Michael, Heidi, Angela and Rosemary,

My sisters and I were so sad to hear Rose Marie passed away. If we had known we would've of come to her services. Rose Marie was our favorite cousin! She was so fun to be around and we spent every Sunday at dinner with Gram and Aunt Ange eating and playing Pokeno. Her laugh was so loud that it made all of us laugh! I was the flower girl in her wedding and always envied how pretty she was. We loved her so much. Please accept our sincere condolences. Love, Melinda, Tina, Lisa and Melissa Romeo

To Rosie's Family:

I am so very sorry for your loss.
Rosie was a former co-worker of my mom MaryLou. I saw Rosie at work all the time and she was always smiling and so caring. She was there when my Dad was ill and performed Reiki. She gave us great comfort in our sadness. May she rest in peace.

I'm so saddened to hear of the loss of this special woman. I met Rosie at St. Mary's in 1983 when we worked nights. She brightened everyone's day. Rosie was an inspiration to us all-in her devotion to her family as a mother, in her loving friendships, in her caring of her patients, in her perseverance through life's difficult times. With any luck, I'll get to spend more time with her.

Although I haven't seen Rosie in years, just the mention of her name brings back memories and a smile to my face! As a new grad it is tough that first year of nursing, she made that easier for me, with her words of wisdom and funny personality.
Kind regards to her family, who was her world.
She may have been an LPN by license but she was so much more!
