Rosie Strope Obituary

Rosie Strope TROY - Rosie Strope, 17, of Troy, NY passed away surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness on Thursday April 27, 2017. Rosie was adopted by her dad Jim Strope in 2001. She grew up in South Troy where she “ran the hill” on VanEvery Ave. She was a fixture in her dad’s work truck for Collar City Concrete where she kept an eye on the guys and also kept Dad company. She LOVED going to work with her dad, it was her most favorite thing to do. Rosie was the only female member of the Emerald Club on Congress St. where on occasion, you would see her sitting on a bar stool at the bar, having a beer with the guys, and snacking on Slim Jims. She was influential in her Uncle Dave being voted in. The guys said, “Any friend of Rosie’s is a friend of ours”. There were several other local establishments that Rosie was able to enjoy including, Valenti’s Pub, River St. Pub, Nature’s, Footsy Magoos, & the Terminal Tavern. Rosie was loved by all who met her. She was sweet, friendly, lovable, and always happy to greet people no matter where she was. She loved parties, treats, and toys. She attended each and every Ponfest at Prospect Park, LOVED Sunday Football, an avid Green Bay Packer fan, and was the Star of the show as the “Best Man” at her parents wedding in 2015. She led a life that was filled with love, fun, treats, and exciting times each and every day. Always right beside her Dad, her paw in his hand, truly best friends. Rosie is survived by her Dad, Jim Strope, Mom, Jennifer Strope, Sister Monica Strope, Brothers, James Strope Jr, and Zachary Strope, her little brother Tom Cat, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. There will be a Memorial Service Saturday May 6, 2017 at the CRAB Club in Troy at 3pm. Family and friends are welcome to join us to celebrate the life of our baby and amazing friend ROSIE THE DAWG.

To Mr. Strope and your family... & Tommy Cat, too - My dog friends and I at the Guilderland Dog Park were sad to hear about Rosie's passing. We were happy, though that she lived to be 17! We think Rosie had a great family and super fun life, even though she went to work, too. We're jealous that she got to hang out at all those cool places in Troy with her dad. She was obviously popular (and well behaved)! All of us at the dog park wish that we had a chance to meet her.
My owner (my mom) said that reading about Rosie's incredible life warmed her heart, and made her smile at the great life you gave her (and the happiness that Rosie gave all of you).

Rosie, God Bless you as you cross the Rainbow Bridge. Whenever we look up at the night stars, we'll think of you.

Thank you for sharing the story of your beloved Rosie. I also adopted a furry child that I named Rosie, and your story reminded me of my girl. You brought a smile on my face and a tear to my eye. It sounds like your Rosie lived a charmed life! Many blessings.

Truly sorry for your loss!
I can only imagine how wonderful heaven must be for our furbabies. Being lovingly cared for by our loved ones gone before us. I know our RuBa is waiting for us. Keep the faith that one day we will see them again. I just know God loves those cold noses as much as we did.
