Thomas Bradt Obituary

Thomas G. Bradt GRAFTON - Thomas G. Bradt, 81, earned his wings surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 31, 2016 to go with the love of his life, his wife of more than 60 years Diane F. Bradt. Thomas was born June 26, 1935 in Schenectady to proud parents George and Eleanor Bradt. Tom left school to go to work and he did just that! With his love of cars and racing, he started working at Sears which flourished into an adventure into auto racing with Sears as his sponsor. He earned his NASCAR license and drove for many years along with his wife, Diane, who drove in the Powder Puff Women’s Division. They were also the owner’s of Bradt’s Garage and Body Shop in Schenctady. He moved on to drive a tractor trailer for Woodcraft in Green Island, Paulsen Lumber on Railroad Ave in Albany, and a long career with Air Products in Glenmont until his retirement. He was a very humble and strong willed man, beloved husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Thomas is survived by his children: George (Marquita) Bradt of East Berne, Donald (Laura) Bradt of Perry, and Johnny (Melissa Miller and her daughter Bridget Pelton) Bradt of Colonie; his brother Donald Lester (Jackie) Bradt; his grandchildren Justin (Danielle), Jeremy (Carmella) and Corey; his great-granddaughter Zoey and a niece and two nephews. Thomas’s family would like to express their gratitude to Evergreen Commons Nursing Home, especially Annette and staff of Angels (nursing) and Filomena in the Business office for their loving and compassionate care over the last 18 months. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Memory Gardens, Colonie.

So sorry for your loss (and ours)! Tom was a wonderful friend and neighbor for my whole life. I'll never forget his voice or his laugh. I regret that I cannot be there now, but I'm with you in heart. I hope he and Diane are now together and laughing again. He will be missed a lot.
