Alice NEALE Obituary

NEALE, Alice Carile 79, of Oro Valley passed away on April 21, 2018. She was born on January 4, 1939 to J. Howard and Alice (Ingham) Corzine in Decatur, Illinois. She is predeceased by her brother, Leonard Corzine and husband, Daniel C. Neale. She is survived by her children, Mary Neale of Tucson, Christopher Neale (Terry) of Landenberg PA, Sarah Lewis (Brian) of Edina MN. Her legacy includes grandchildren, Rachel, Rebekah (Mark), Christopher James, Hayley and Quinn. Carile grew up in Illinois and Minnesota and studied theater arts at Millikin University and University of Minnesota. She met and married the love of her life Daniel C. Neale on May 19, 1959. They and their three children spent time camping, boating, fishing, golfing, ice skating, and visiting numerous historical sites. Carile made sure her children were exposed to all manner of sports, art and music. She was a full participant in these activities and utilized her knowledge of child development to nurture her children in whatever they chose to do. She kept the house stocked with art supplies and often surprised her children with art activities. Carile would accompany the family on the piano for sing alongs, recorder practice and rehearsals for recitals. The family moved to Newark, Delaware in 1970 and Carile was involved in many things such as being a girl scout leader, choir member, local political action volunteer as well as studying piano, watercolor, drawing and real estate sales. Carile was an accomplished seamstress and there wasn't a project she couldn't tackle. She designed and created décor for the house, clothing and costumes for local plays. Carile experienced kidney failure at age 51 and spent many years on dialysis eventually getting a kidney transplant. After the transplant became compromised in 2002, her daughter Sarah gave her one of her healthy kidneys. She never needed dialysis again. In 1996, Carile and Dan moved to Oro Valley and spent time enjoying all the desert had to offer. They were members of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, took drawing classes, and traveled to their cabin in Minnesota. Carile became involved with The Drawing Studio honing her skills in watercolor, pastel and encaustic mediums. She also was an OATS volunteer, teaching seniors drawing and watercolor. Carile was known to be loving, generous, cheerful and feisty. She valued honesty, directness and authenticity. Given her numerous battles with her health she remained tenacious, brave and fearless. Carile was a no-nonsense, practical lady and wouldn't take guff from anyone. The family would like to thank Bayada Home Health Care and her caregivers from Home Instead. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Polycystic Kidney Foundation (pkdcure.org). A gathering to remember Carile will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, in Oro Valley.
