My five year-old son, his 11 year-old friend and I visited Eastlawn today and laid a wreath and flowers at Christopher's grave. I wanted to teach these young boys what a valiant Veteran meant. They could not have found a more perfect example of a brave veteran. I thank you for raising such a fine heroic son, who was fun-loving, responsible, kind and a good team mate. It is so sad how he lost his life and no parent should have to experience that painful loss. I hope it makes some difference that he continues to teach even in death and that he went to Heaven acting on his purpose. My son wanted to look up Chrisopher Moon's life story and he said, "I would salute him, mom, if he were standing here."

I never knew this brave young man. But, I did read about him throughout his young baseball career. When I read that he joined up as the saying goes. He instantly became a hero to me. I was very saddened to hear of his passing,so now I would like to honor him plus give condolences to his family. As I said I don't know this fine young man. But he stands along side with the past hero's of our countries. He can also join the ranks of the past greatest generation. They will welcome him with open arms I'm sure of that. Rest in Peace/ This country needs more Christopher Moon's. Yes we do!!!

We are sending our condolences to the Army Moon family for the lost of their son, serving in the line of duty for our country. Your son has made himself & his family HEROES. It may seem unfair for your lost because your son was trying to help the world. We all experienced the hurt of our lost son, Alejandro J. Yazzie. He died Feb. 16, 2010, serving in the US Marine Corp. Continue to let your hearts heal and we will keep you in our prayers for strength and comfort. May God Bless!

I attended the memorial service for Chris even though I had never met him and knew only about his athletic exploits from the newspaper. I do know his heart however as I have a son in a Ranger unit currently in Afganistan. My son is a year older than Chris and went to Mountain View High School and they likely played football against each other. Like Chris, my son accepted Christ at a young age and that gives me great peace. I regularly think about what it would be like if he didn't come home. While I have comfort in his eternal destiny, I cannot imagine the void that you must be feeling at this time. For now, I mourn with you and pray for Gods comfort upon you.

Chris, I've known you since you were maybe about six years old. You were my little brother's best friend and had a major impact on his life. A positive one. Not too many people get to experience a friendship so genuine and loving than you and him and I am forever grateful for that.
I am sorry I didn't get to know you better because you were younger, one of Marc's friends and I just never took the time. I keep hearing about what a wonderful friend/soldier/athlete and person you were and I have nothing but the up-most respect for you. You are an inspiration to me. I am proud that although we were in different branches, we are on the same team. You are my motivation to continue serving my country, only now, in a more meaningful way.
Please look out for my little brother and I hope you are at peace knowing that you moved Tucson. You are widely loved and appreciated and will be that hero all of us dream of knowing but few ever really get to.

Brian, Marsha, Sunday, and the entire Moon family,
I had the priveledge of getting to watch Chris play sports at THS from the best seat in the house, the sidelines! More importantly, I had the honor of getting to interact with him on an almost daily basis.
Brian, you thanked me today for being a positive influence on Chris, but he impacted me just as much. Chris was the most kind, un-selfish and even-tempered high school athlete I've ever been in contact with. I never heard him swear or get angry, even when he injured his knee in football. You raised him well!
Marsha, today was very difficult for me, because as a parent the thought of having to out-live one of your children is un-bearable. I pray that God grants you the strength to get through this time of sorrow and eases your suffering. Hopefully, seeing the turn-out for Chris's memorial helps you to understand just how well loved he was and how he impacted those he came into contact with.
Sunday, you have the honor of telling Chris's nieces and nephews just how special their uncle was, and what an amazing sacrifice he made to protect their freedom. Like Chris, many soldiers have made that ultimate sacrifice, but few have given up the life and career he did in order to do so. I pledge to make it my mission that Chris's memory will not be forgotten and to teach future THS athletes about who Chris was and what he so un-selfishly did for all of us.
May God bless you and keep you. May God's face smile down upon you. May you know Chris was deeply loved by many, many people, some you may never meet in this lifetime. And may we all look forward to the day when we are re-united with Chris and the rest of our loved ones who have preceeded us into God's loving arms. Please do not hesitate to call if you need anything, even if it's just a hug!
With deepest sympathy,

Thank you for being such wonderful parents and raising someone with such high moral character. Chris has been an example to many of my players - even though he was never on a team of mine, I had the greatest respect for him and always will.
He was an incredible competitor, and Chris has effected my life as a coach and person.
God Bless the Moon family and Chris for the person he will always be remembered as. I hope that my 2 boys can be the same type of person that Chris was, as he walks with the Lord now.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .

Final Inspection
The soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here,
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God,
"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

I have been so very sad since I heard about the loss of your amazing boy Chris. I can only imagine how heartbroken you all must be. I keep seeing the beautiful face of that 6th grade boy in the summer of 2000 when he showed up along with his friend Danny at Dodge MS. He was so eager to face all of the challenges that middle school had to offer and WOW! he conquered all of those challenges. It was a delight to watch him and Danny and later Mark as they grew into such wonderful young men. I, like so many others, watched with some pride as he continued to make a name for himself, excelling at everything he set out to do. Thank you so much for sending him across town to Dodge so that we might have the pleasure of knowing and loving him. I know that Chris has a very special place in heaven and will continue to watch over his loved ones until you're all together again. May you find comfort in your many great memories of your exceptional son and the love of so many in our community.

We remember Chris as a young boy racing bmx with our children at RAM BMX in Manzanita Park. I don't know who had more fun the kids or us parents.
Our most heartfelt, and sincerest sympathies.

Dear Moon Family,
I had the pleasure of knowing Chris as one of my daughter's many friends at THS. He was an exceptional young man with many extraordinary talents and a smile that lit any room he was in. I will always remember his respectful nature and wonderful personality that were a joy to be around. His selfless decision to protect our country will always be remembered and so will he. Rest in Peace, Chris. God Bless You, Moon Family. With deepest, heartfelt condolences,
M Ferris

I only know of your passing through a friend, and wish to add my thanks for the ultimate price you gave for your country. I will pray that as time goes on, your family will take comfort in remembering all of the positive things you did in your young life, and not how you left this world.
