Concepcion QUIHUIS Obituary

QUIHUIS, Concepcion M. "Chona" 75, passed away on March 15, 2016 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Mom was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Quihuis; her parents, Santiago and Amelia Martinez; brother, Santiago Martinez; sisters, Carmen Martinez and Ciria Hernandez; son-in-law, Willie Montano. She is survived by her children, Danny Quihuis, Christina (Jose) Monrreal, Diana Montano and Rene (Rosanna) Quihuis. Also survived by her brothers, Alejandro Martinez, Juan (Maclovia) Martinez, Gonzalo Martinez and sisters, Adela Martinez and Amelia Cruz; her grandchildren, Josie, Daniella, Emmanuel, Ariana, Anthony, Augustine, Esperanza and Stefani as well as her great-grandchildren, Emery, Aliciana, Jenna, Jazlyn, Sophia and Julian. Mom worked for a number of years at the Girls Club of Tucson as an arts and crafts instructor and then decided to take on one of the most difficult and rewarding jobs of all, staying home to raise her children and later, her grandchildren. Mom was always there for us especially when we needed her love, guidance and discipline. Her cooking was legendary. Everyone had their favorite dish and she always made you feel as if she made it just for you. The whole neighborhood would wake up to the smell of fresh tortillas, beans and chorizo on her wood burning stove and she was always happy to make a burrito for anyone that stopped by. Our family would like to thank her caregiver, Cassandra Martinez, we will always be grateful for everything you did for mom and our family. Visitation will be on Monday, March 28, 2016 at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel) from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 followed by entombment at Holy Hope Mausoleum. Mom, we love you very much and we'll miss you, but we are glad that you and Dad are together again. May you rest in peace.
