Constance Fitzgibbon Obituary

"Connie or CJ", Age 84, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on April 6th, 2024.  Born on November 17th, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert Charles Hahn and Mildred Ione (Warner) Hahn.  Connie spent her childhood and the early part of her adult life in Ohio, ultimately moving to Tucson in 1972. Connie attended Ohio State University and Bowling Green University in Ohio, where she majored and got her degree in Elementary Education, and where she met her husband of almost 60 years (until his passing in 2020), William Michael "Mike" Fitzgibbon, who was the love of her life.  Connie had several different careers throughout her life, but her longest career, and by far her favorite, was teaching.  She especially enjoyed teaching the 7th grade, here in Tucson, at Cross Middle School.   Connie and Mike were both lovers of animals of all kinds, but they specifically loved dogs, and had rescued many over the years.  Connie was a huge fashion, jewelry and art enthusiast, and had extensive collections of all three.  She loved playing bridge with friends, solitaire, and later, sudoku.  She also volunteered through the years, at hospice and teaching adults to read, and was a big supporter of many different animal related charities.  Connie possessed a "larger than life" personality that made an indelible impact on anyone she met.  Connie and Mike's loyalty and adoration of each other was undeniable, and they were lucky enough to have been each other's soulmates.  Connie is survived by her children: Tim Fitzgibbon (Carmen) and Amy Nehls (Brandon Ketchum); her grandchildren, Austin and Niklas Nehls and her brother, Richard Hahn.

Connie and I grew up in Grandview as neighbors, school chums, and marching band friends (she a flag twirler - I a majorette). Then to think...years later our surviving parent married one another! Church family friends Robert Hahn and Thelma McNabb's union brought Connie into my life again. To experience her bright smile and warmth was to be blessed. Beautiful Connie.
